BOOM! CGW-induced paradigm shift number one
Hey folks,
I really should be sleeping right now. I’m in Vegas, it’s 2:21 am as I’m starting to write this post and I already know that it’s going to take me at least one hour to get out all the “downloads” I’ve been receiving. I just wanted to meditate a little bit before going to sleep, after a long, loooong awesome day in Vegas at the Conscious Growth Workshop put together and run by what I like to think of as the “Pavlina Productions” team – thanks Bron, Erin, Steve, Dana and possibly some other people involved in organizing and running the workshop who I’m just not aware of right now!
But let’s talk about my paradigm shift. I’ll keep things short so I’ll get at least some sleep, but still am able to get the ideas out there that they don’t get stuck in my head and can actually do something physically useful, i.e. start manifesting themselves, if that’s what they’re meant to do.
First I thought I wouldn’t get that much out of the workshop in terms of personal growth for myself. I’m so familiar with all the materials that Steve has put out over the years since I’ve started reading his blog in late 2005 or so and recently have been taking in information from a few other sources that teach principles very relevant to personal growth. But I knew Steve, Erin and their team would put together something grand with the workshop and the people attending would just rock, so that’s why I chose to attend in the first place — and both of those predictions have been true, and I never doubted they wouldn’t be.
Before I talk about the things I’ve realized: It’s not necessarily that only the exposition to Steve’s presentation and materials for day 1 of the CGW#3 have led to these realizations. But the whole atmosphere, the people, the situations I’ve experienced in the days leading up to the workshop, the getting together with all the awesome attendees, the deep, meaningful conversations, the instant making of many new friends, … — they all contributed. At a later time, I’m possibly going to outline and go into more detail about what those were for I believe they can be abstracted into some kind of template for making the workshop experience even more powerful.
- I realize that my purpose for coming to the CGW is more about contributing to the experience others have of it than in growing myself so much. My personal growth is closely tied to that, there is no way the one can happen for me without the other, so that’s cool. Some people, including Erin, dropped hints that this kind of would be the case, but until now I was kind of skeptical about it and certainly was afraid of fully embracing it. No more so.
- I am going to stay in the US for something that feels like at least 6 months, even though I have a Visa valid only for 3 months and was planning to go back to Germany in 6 weeks. I have no idea how that’s going to happen… well, actually my imagination does bring up suggestions for that, but at this point it seems unreasonable to believe it could happen like that and so I will not share details about that at this point.
- I am going to train my intuitive skills with Erin. At this point, following Steve’s principle of truth, looking at the truth of the current situation, I’m very much broke and would not immediately be able to afford this, even though I have no idea what the price tag would be. But I know that it’s going to work out, that I’m going to talk to Erin about this (we already agreed on this one) and in that we’re going to find a really great way to make it happen. One of the reasons why I’m sharing the information about the financial issue with you is to allow you to give you an example of how one is able to be abundant even in the face of what seems to be financial lack. Follow my journey to be inspired on how to overcome this all pervasive problem within the “lightworker community”.
- I am going to work with Steve. I don’t know how it’s going to happen or what services specifically I will be able to provide to improve the quality and effect of the services that he is providing to his readership and customers and clients, but I know that I have lots of value to give that is in alignment with his purpose and his current personal development site and business. More specific ideas:
- I can very quickly develop a coaching program based on the values Steve is teaching in his book and during the workshop. I have a good understanding of them, both intellectually and intuitively. I can easily connect to the perspective through which CGW participants and Steve’s broader readership sees the world of personal growth and deliver both life and business coaching in that specific way so that it comes very easy and natural and is simply tailored to the needs, beliefs and current perspective of those people. If I would do that on my own, based on the book and the workshop and then go over that with Steve, I’m sure we can come up with something really awesome. And not only would I coach people according to those guidelines and perspectives, but I would also love to gather more people who are already working as professional coaches or are looking to get on that path, who are in the CGW community, and teach and organize them and lead the efforts of providing great coaching services to the CGW and stevepavlina.com community.
- I understand that I want to let go of seeing myself as a software developer. If you get the chance to ask me “so, what do you do?” and then I waffle something including “software development” or similar, I hereby publicly promise to pay you $10 or give you a free life or business coaching session – whichever you perceive as the option with the greater value in it for you. The logical explanation for this step is that even though I can do web / software development and all that technical stuff, it really is not what serves me and the people around me best, so at the very least I want to stop thinking of myself in those terms from now on. Please do help me stick with that if you can.
- Finding people according to whatever purpose, bringing them together, creating teams and organizations is something that I need to be doing more of. Right now for example I realize that through my intense desire to connect with CGW folks that I’ve had and cultivated since about November last year, I’ve managed to connect with almost all of the most active CGW alumni in meaningful ways even before I’ve ever attended this seminar myself. And now I’m here in Vegas building even deeper relationships with you and many others that are first time attendees or that I hadn’t connected with before. I know, some people would say “duh man, this is just plain old ‘networking’”, but for me 1) it’s new and something I was never passionate about before, 2) it’s a new lifestyle, more than just some activity I’m doing in order to be successful and whatnot, 3) it just truly has meaning for me.
- Today I need to talk to this group of people: Matty Blu, Alex Wu, Michelle Mettler. I feel that we have gifts to share with the other CGW attendees in very poweful ways for everyone involved, including your professional practices!
- I can see purpose in the CGW#3 attendee count being “only” around 70 or so. That makes for an even higher alumni-to-newbie ratio — let’s take advantage of that and assign an alumni as a kind of mentor to every newbie! Which second or third time attendees would be up for that?
- We can make the CGW#3 a unique and new experience compared to the previous workshops by understanding what our individual skills and gifts are and how we can put them to use in order to benefit the whole group experience. Who can coach others on some of the principles or exercises? Who can provide other services to fellow attendees, services that are representative of their passion / love / joy / excitement?
- … there have been more ideas and realizations, but it’s 4:13 am now and I need to get at least 2 or 3 hours of sleep tonight… going to try and start writing stuff down earlier next time
If you have comments or feedback or want to help tweak the ideas and / or make some of them a reality, then please do let me know! Either in the comments, on Facebook or via the contact form on this website! Looking forward to making great stuff happen for you and together with you! Let’s rock and roll
And finally…
Shout outs for CGW#3 day one go to:
- Bobby Arroyo — thanks for our good talk at Red Velvet Cafe in the evening – was very effective for me even though or maybe especially because it was short and to the point
- Paris, whose name I’m sure I spell improperly — you’re such an amazingly supportive, intelligent, wonderful guy and I can see many good things coming towards you and all the people who decide to connect and keep in touch with you! Thanks for the ride to the RV Cafe and back, appreciate that and of course all the conversations we had today! There’s lots of things I can learn from you, really looking forward to doing that!
- Steve — for taking the time to answer my question about “disconnection” in the Courage part of the workshop, and for really trying to drive the point about that home! That’s a very important point for me, appreciate your perspective on that!
- Erin — simply for your presence and triggering a feeling of being encouraged and supported within me just by stating that “we need to talk”
- Michelle — for the continued effects the reading you gave me on Thursday is having on me! That was really powerful and contained many messages I needed and wanted to hear, very much appreciated! I hope the recording is going to be usable for you to use the session’s video in whatever way you imagine it will be most beneficial to you, your business and most importantly your past and future clients! Way to go, you rock! And before I forget it… do you think you could help me learn how to do channeling myself? I’m veeeery intrigued by the subject and would love to learn from someone who actually does it with such ease like you!
- Glen — for teaming up for the master-slave exercise and giving me good feedback on my role as a master!
- Gene — for being such an authentically kind and loving person! There’s lots I can learn from you in that respect, your “orders” during the master-slave exercise were really inspiring! And you’re a great hugger as well
- everyone else who I’ve been in contact with today — thanks for talking to me, sharing a story from your experience, teaching me a lesson in one way or another, and just connecting in whatever way, shape or form it happened! Excited for more of that, I’m enjoying myself and you guys and gals tremendously
